Looks like Mo Johnston fired up his TV, put in his 1999 UEFA Champions League Highlight VHS and spotted some talent. And now for the words that are starting to define the entire TFC experience… This will never work.
On his morning radio show, Steve Czaban asked what was the best sports commercial ever made was. As good as the ESPN Sportscenter ads, they cannot compare to this Nike ad from 1998.

It’s also something I’ve heard a lot from the British, as well as American Eurosnobs and Latinoposeurs – that the word “soccer” is anathema, and that there is only one true football (they’re right, there is only one true football – Super Bowl XLII Champions New York Giants, but that’s beside the point).
I’m sure a lot of you get that as well, so the next time a British person complains about your preference for “soccer,” simply remind them that, if the word is so horrid, why did they invent it?
Dave is right here. I hate the soccer v. football argument. I also especially hate American fans who call the game football (This means you, Christian Miles!). The soccer v. football fan debate is a straw man that prevents them from ever taking Americans seriously on the subject. What you call the sport doesn’t really matter. Of course, they might just be smarting because they know as well as I do that the USA will win the World Cup before England will…. I absolutely believe that.
Remind a Brit of that next time one gets mouthy.
