UEFA Champions League Prediction Contest – 3/17/10

Well, as the gang (most of us anyway) try to heal our wounds from yesterday’s debacle, there are two remaining matches in the Round of 16 that will finalize the eight clubs in the pot for the quarterfinal draw.

Personally, I’m going to be short with the analysis today because, hell, it’s not working anyway. Off back-to-back 0-fers, it’s time to just shoot in the dark to try and grab some points.

* Barcelona vs. Stuttgart: The teams enter this match 1-1, with the defending European champions carrying an away goal. I can’t think of a common sense reason to pick Stuttgart here, so I won’t. 2-0 BARCELONA.

* Bordeaux vs. Olympiakos: This is probably the matchup of the round in terms which one got the least attention. Bordeaux scored a 1-0 win away in the first leg and so they are in great position here. I have to believe Bordeaux will continue to be better. 2-0 BORDEAUX.

As one great philosopher once said, “See, it’s so easy when you break things down scientifically.”

20 points for getting the winner and exact score, which from now one, may just be referred to as the “Nica.” 10 points for having the winner and margin; 5 for just having the winner … which would be fine for me right about now.

Good luck!
