The Guardian’s Scott Murray writes an interesting column on the ramifications of a team as demonstrably bad as Rangers making it to the UEFA Cup Final tonight against Zenit St. Petersburg. I am not just taking shots at Rangers for being Rangers, listen to this. If ‘Gers do win tonight, they would become, statistically, one of the the worst-performing team ever to win a European trophy. In eight UEFA Cup matches, Rangers has scored only five goals and had four 0-0 draws. And despite Zenit’s quality, especially with Dick Advocaat at the helm, Rangers will have a huge homefield advantage in Manchester and I see them winning.
Prediction: Rangers, 1-0 AET
