2007 all over again?

2-0, KC.

Unlike D, I am quite disappointed. It’s not that we lost, it’s that we lost making so many of the same errors we explcitly sought to fix. Does this sound familiar to anyone.

  • The defense broke down at crucial times, with Peralta, at times being caught upfield and quite possibly so on the second KC goal.
  • The attack again insisted on pounding it down the middle of the field where KC had amassed all its defenders bother, hack and repel. Quaranta should’ve been inserted at the wing, not in for Niell.
  • The referee allowed a lot of contact in the middle of the field and subsequently DC surrendered the ball a lot.

Don’t get me wrong, there were new problems as well.

  • Emilio looked awful. There was far too much of him wide outside the penalty area and isolated from teammates.
  • No energy whatsoever in the first half. DC practically looked like they didn’t want to be there. If they say that they weren’t looking ahead to Pachuca, I want to know what the hell they were looking at. Because there was no energy last night until it was too late.

Obviously it’s just game one, so you can’t overreact, but I just wish that we’d at least seen new problems rather than just all the same ones from last year.

Hey, if this really is like 2007 all over again and we drop our first three games en route to another supporters shield – I’m fine with it.
